Up-hill of the Latin Quarters, uphill, you’ll find Pantheon and the Luxembourg Gardens, a big park meticulously cared for. Situated in the north-west part of the park, fronting rue de Vaugirard you will find Palais du Luxembourg that was designed in the early 17th century for Queen Marie de Medicis, the Florentine wife of Henry 4. The palace and its grounds remained in royal hands until the 1789 Revolution. Today it houses the French Senate.
